Professionally and/or if you're mad at me, I'm Rebecca. Otherwise, I'm just Becca or Becs. My favorite name of all, though, is Auntie Becs. I'm a mental health therapist born and raised in Indianapolis. My gregarious nature destined me for people-facing jobs. From my first real job in child care to a decade of serving and bartending, I always found a way to make money by talking to people until I was able to call it a career. Therapy is more than "just talking", but it's typically a good sign if you feel such comfort and safety with your therapist that you feel like that's all you're doing. It's my objective as a provider to make you feel like this, and something I sought imperatively as a client. My therapeutic approach is warm always, and directive when needed. Directives are for you to take or leave. Take only what serves you. Unfortunately, repeatedly telling someone, "The stove is hot!" isn't quite as compelling as the experiential learning of burning your hand on the stovetop's open flame. Together, we can navigate that hot stove. Are you aware it's hot? How hot is it? Do you need an oven mit to handle the situation? Do you need to turn down the heat, or to turn it off entirely? Let's figure it out, Chef! It's your kitchen, I'm just here to offer some ingredients. Anyways, if I'm not busy making corny metaphors, I'm typically occupying myself reading or writing. I can also be found rooting on the Boilermakers and the Pack. My dog, Alonzo, is simply the best. Better than all the rest. I'm also really into music andddd I wouldn't have to collect vinyls if my dad didn't give away his entire collection to Half Priced Books back in the day.
