Note about scheduling
On my website's navigation menu, you will find the "Schedule" button that will direct you to a secure portal using Simple Practice. This is the confidential Electronic Health Record (EHR) system used by Becoming Mental Health, LLC.
The "Submit Contact Form" is only intended for a potential new client seeking more information or a free consult call to see if I am a good fit for your needs and schedule. Simply glancing at it may also give you an idea of information to include in a more individualized, quick e-mail inquiry instead,. Thanks in advance for helping me help you with the important decision of determining mutual rightness-of-fit for services.
If you are a new client, you can
E-mail, call, or text and expect to hear back from me within 24 hours.
If you click "Schedule" then "New Client", the portal will direct you to complete the same information as the "Submit Contact Form." There's no need to do both. Completing the electronic documentation to initiate services should take approximately 5-20 minutes.
Note about availability
Availability framework: Although my potential availability above suggestes that I am willing to pretty much just never eat, sleep, or live outside of providing therapy, that's not actually the case. Please extend the same flexibility with scheduling to me that I promise to provide you. The availability shown above offers a general framework of availability. Once you are a client, you will see open session slots that you may request. My availability on the portal will remain up-to-date. Advanced scheduling increases likelihood of desired session time, as does consistent scheduling. Regularly scheduling at the same day and time is highly recommended if possible. Structure is good for all parties.
Outside of the availability framework: It never hurts to ask about a time listed outside of the framework! Feel free!
Understanding the framework:
For example: Today is 4/1/26. I am not available Sunday 4/5/26. It's Easter and Easter is my grandma's favorite holiday, so I will be with my GeeGee. But, most Sundays, I'm going to be free!
Notes about confidentiality
Limits of confidentiality: Everything you say will be considered confidential with important exceptions that I will review at the start of our work together. Difficult topics such as suicide, homicide, self-harm, violence, and ideation thereof may arise. Please do not filter yourself in any therapeutic environment. These matters exist on a spectrum and therapy offers the opportunity to acknowledge and manage these thoughts and behaviors with the specific goal of risk reduction.
Ethics: My favorite unofficial description of my job is Professional Secret Keeper. I take your trust in me very seriously.
Boundaries:
Some housekeeping items...
To ensure degrees of separation + most importantly your confidentiality, social media form including LinkedIn (with the exception of the Becoming Mental Health, LLC Instagram account if you so choose. It's public). Former clients may do so once 3 years elapse since our last session together, per ethical guidelines outlined by the American Psychological Association (APA).
Electronic communication can be personalized, but avoid protected health information (PHI). I always love to hear a quick update in between sessions! This helps anchor us and helps guide the next session, too. But this should only be used sparingly. I want to be fully present when you tell me important things, anyways. I'm pretty expressive - you'll want to see my live reaction to big news.
Virtual sessions cannot occur while you are driving or in a public space. If needed, we can re-schedule without penalty. If you're running late, I might be able to flex the time of your session, etc etc etc. Life happens, and I care about your safety and privacy most.
